You might have wondered about what is going on at the colony, since our last transmission happened a long time ago and even back then the reports were sparse. Well, as you can imagine life in space not only has its benefits but also dangers one does not always expect. As it happened the orbit of our colony was crossed by some clouds of cosmic dust which mutated some of our animals we keep for supplies and entertainment. Taking care of these poor creatures had of course absolute priority so we had to pause our research. However, thanks to our dear friend Tito Puente we were able to get rid of most of the mutants and are about to resume our program. The first thing to do is to show you our brave combatants in the above transmission. We hope that the wounded will get well soon.
Exactly 20 years ago a powerful transmission of oscilating low frequencies from the outer orbits of our galaxy reached England and colided with the heads of Mark Bell and Gez Varley, giving birth to Frequencies, the debut album of LFO.
Exactly 28 years ago the second most attractive ABBA-member (after Benny) Agnetha released her seventh solo album (and her first in English), the marvellous "Wrap Your Arms Around Me". Its title track is definitely the most seductive sleazefests you'll ever get to hear from someone from the polar region - and hence one of the colony essentials.
You might have realized that each year the transmissions from the Colony get rather sparse in March, April and May. The reason for that is pretty simple – since by now you should know that the most members of the Colony’s crew have their roots in Stuttgart, Germany, you should understand that the Colony is designed to make living in the happy orbit as easy for the crew as possible. That is why the creators of the colony decided to recreate the four seasons up here as well – and so, around April, all of us decide to leave their Googie-houses and enjoy the artificial sunshine here at the Colony. But at the end of May we decide to return and take our research up as if nothing has happened. You should do that to, from time to time.
A lengthy interview with Jeff Mills by one of Germany's greatest, Alexander Kluge. The Lessons one can learn here were applied when we designed the colony.
Mick Wills gave us two fabulous opportunities to shake our popos last year: "Cybernetic Discotheque" 1+2 at Climax with guests like Traxx and Intergalactic Gary. He's a fantastic DJ himself and has compiled some of his sets over at robotdj.net.
